LMHS Mini-THON had another amazing year raising money to support the fight against pediatric cancer! Sponsors Ellen and Adam Segalow organized the effort along with the overall Captains and Committee Captains, the many dancers, and parent and staff volunteers. Thank you also to the sponsors who donated the money, and the families who spoke during Family Hour. Together, you achieved something wonderful. #FTK

Today, we recognize the vital role substitute teachers play in our schools. They are not just "filling in"; they are ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a stable environment for students when regular staff must be absent.

We are deeply grateful to the dedicated professionals who answer the call—often early in the morning—to step up and serve our classrooms. Thank you for your commitment to student success.

Lower Moreland is excited to announce that Mr. Tom Murt has been appointed as the Head Coach for the Wrestling program.

A graduate of Archbishop Wood High School, Mr. Murt has extensive experience teaching and coaching in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area. He has taught at Archbishop Ryan, William Tennent, and Little Flower, and has also spent time at Penn State Abington as a member of the Academic Affairs staff and a part-time Business instructor. He holds a B.S. from Penn State in Economics, a Master’s in Education from LaSalle, and an Ed.D. from Temple in Educational Administration.

After college, Mr. Murt was chosen as the Head Wrestling Coach at LaSalle University in 1983. At the time of his hiring, Mr. Murt was the youngest coach in the United States for any Division I sport. In his first season at the helm, Mr. Murt led the team to 7 wins; they had not won a match in the previous two seasons. In his second year at LaSalle, the team had a winning record for the first time in program history, and in the 1986-87 season, LaSalle finished the season with a record-setting 14 wins. That record still stands to this day.

Mr. Murt’s love of coaching expanded over the years. He has served as a CYO and Upper Moreland Parks and Recreation Baseball and Softball coach in addition to coaching Soccer and Basketball in the Upper Moreland community. He currently coaches high school softball for Little Flower, where he has held a position since 2020.

Outside of coaching, Mr. Murt served in combat in Iraq in 2003-2004 as part of Operation: Iraqi Freedom, was a member of the Upper Moreland School Board, and was also a Commissioner for the Upper Moreland Township Board of Commissioners. He was a PA State Representative from 2007-2020, authoring numerous laws and serving as Chairman of the Human Services Committee.

Lower Moreland welcomes Mr. Murt as the newest member of the Lower Moreland coaching community. We wish him much success in the future and look forward to his leadership of the program. Go Lions!!
