Lower Moreland Township School District

On February 21, 62 LMTSD students, the highest number the district has ever had, presented their STEM research at the regional level of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science at Souderton Area High School. 7th through 12th-grade students from all over Montgomery County participated in today's competition. Lower Moreland is proudly sending 42 qualifying students to the state-level meet at Penn State University this May. Students qualify for the state meet by achieving a 1st place score. Eight of our students scored a perfect score, a special distinction that comes with a cash prize from Merck.

LMTSD will operate on a two-hour delay schedule on Tuesday, February 24. The district’s before- and after-school Kinderlinks program and nonpublic school transportation services will also follow this schedule.

Due to forecasted inclement winter weather, LMTSD will be closed on Monday, February 23, 2026, and will operate on a virtual FID schedule. This closure includes the cancellation of all school and district offices, the Kinderlinks program, all school-related and community group activities, and nonpublic school transportation services.

Potential Inclement Weather Day Alert for Monday, February 23, 2026: We are closely monitoring forecasted winter weather and preparing for a potential change to the school schedule on Monday, February 23, 2026. Current predictions indicate possible snow accumulation on Sunday evening, February 22, and into Monday morning. Given these predictions, we are preparing for the possibility of declaring a flexible instructional day (FID) for Monday, February 23.

The LMHS Students Against Melanoma Club members packaged and donated 62 sun safety gift bags of sunglasses, sunscreen, hats and sun shirts to our community partner, The Laurel House of PA, to distribute this spring to victims and survivors of domestic violence.

The Lower Moreland Township School District is proud to once again participate in the Montgomery County Annual Education Recruitment Fair on Wednesday, March 11th, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the MCIU Lafayette Building in Norristown. We are seeking teachers, college students majoring in education, and other education professionals from all backgrounds who are passionate about helping all students reach their full potential.

National School Resource Officers Appreciation Day is on February 15th, and we are incredibly grateful for the essential service provided by our district's SROs.

We proudly recognize Officer Jamie Samuels, who supports Pine Road and Murray Avenue, and Officer Justin Brommer, who serves the Middle School and the High School.

Our School Resource Officers are vital members of the school community. They help maintain a secure and safe learning environment, are a valuable resource for school staff members, work to build positive relationships with our students, and assist in developing strategies to resolve issues impacting students.

The Lower Moreland Township School District will not have school on Monday, February 16th, for Presidents' Day, and on Tuesday, February 17th, in observance of Lunar New Year.

The annual Open House at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove is Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents/guardians of high school students to see how EASTERN can give students a competitive edge in college or in a specialized career program. At the Open House, parents/guardians and students will learn how EASTERN students can earn college credits while still in high school through dual enrollment and articulation agreements. The Open House also offers an opportunity to hear from EASTERN instructors on the hands-on learning environment that complements students’ high school academics.

EASTERN’s half-day career programs for 11th and 12th grade students include: Allied Health; Automotive Technology; Business and Technology Professional; Carpentry (formerly known as Construction Technology), Collision Repair Technology; Construction Careers and Management (New for 2026 – 2027!); Cosmetology; Culinary Arts; Design, Photography, and Illustration; Electrical Technology; Exercise Science and Rehabilitation; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning; Networking and Cybersecurity; Protective Services; Robotics and Automated Technology; Veterinary Science; and Welding Technology.

National School Counseling Week 2026 is celebrated from February 2–6, 2026, with the theme "School Counselors Amplify Student Success," highlighting their crucial role in academic, career, and social-emotional development.

At LMTSD, we are profoundly grateful for the work of our school counselors. Their work is often behind the scenes, but it does not go unnoticed. They are an amazing resource for our students, parents/guardians, and school staff.

February is Career and Technical Education Month! In observance, we proudly acknowledge the exemplary work conducted by the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN). CTE programs are instrumental in providing students with essential, real-world skills and establishing viable pathways to successful careers in high-demand fields.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the committed students, instructors, and staff at EASTERN for their dedication to developing the future workforce.

Congratulations to Lower Moreland High School, which was named to the 2025 AP School Honor Roll at the Silver level! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP Programs are delivering results and broadening participation for students.

Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing their school’s college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

A remarkable 91% of the 507 AP tests taken in Lower Moreland in 2025 were a 3, 4, or 5. (A score of 3 is considered "Qualified" to receive college credit and placement.) The High School offers 25 Advanced Placement courses.

The 8th Grade Gifted Support class represented LMMS at the Philadelphia regional Future City competition at Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor. This year's challenge was to design a city of the future that eliminates food waste from farm to table while keeping citizens healthy and safe. Students have to create a full-scale model of their city, they have to write an essay describing the city elements, they interview with engineers for hours, and they perform a 7-minute skit presentation for a panel of judges.

For the first time, Lower Moreland made it to the final round, performing on stage with the top 6 out of 47 teams. While LMMS did not take home the top spot this year, we did come home with a few very special recognitions -
The Reinventing Tomorrow special award, presented by Jacob's Engineering
and the Honorable Mention award for placing 4th overall in the competition.
