The district hosted the PMEA District 11 Stringfest for elementary and middle schools this weekend, with LMMS teacher Amanda Handfinger handling the organization of the event. From the elevated musical experience to the countless logistics behind the scenes, it was clear that an enormous amount of care and dedication went into every aspect of this event.

PMEA District 11 Stringfest
March 21st has been recognized as World Down Syndrome Day by the United Nations since 2012 with the goal of helping people better understand and support those with Down syndrome.

The date being the 21st day of the 3rd month was chosen to represent the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

Please visit https://www.worlddownsyndromeday.org/ to see what you can do to raise awareness of Down syndrome. This year’s theme centers on improving support systems for individuals with Down syndrome.

Today, 650 students in grades 9–11 connected with more than 75 representatives through small-group sessions and a dynamic, all-school mini fair featuring service academies, military branches, colleges and universities, as well as trade and technical programs. The program offered students a meaningful opportunity to explore a diverse range of postsecondary pathways, hear firsthand from institutions, and engage in thoughtful conversations about academic programs and the admissions process—equipping them with insight and confidence as they begin navigating these pivotal next steps toward their future.

Music in Our Schools Month
We are very excited to announce that we are now taking registrations for the Lions Summer Sports Camp. This camp is a great opportunity for students to have fun and stay active over the summer. The camp will run from June 22 to August 7 this year. Deadline for registration is Monday, May 4. Please note that there will be NO CAMP on Friday, July 3.

The Lions Summer Sports Camp is available for students in grades 2 through 8 (in the Fall of 2026 - no exceptions), offering them the opportunity to participate in various sports throughout the summer. The Camp will be held at Lower Moreland High School in the Gymnasium. The address is 545 Red Lion Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Enter through Valley Center Park Drive (Parent/Guardian MUST sign in and out daily). Some of the sports students will enjoy include Basketball, Softball, Tennis, Soccer, Badminton, Swimming, Archery, Floor Hockey, Volleyball, Football, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Team Handball.

During the morning sessions, students will work with instructors going over the finer components of various sports. Competitions will be held throughout the morning activities.

Afternoon activities will include daily swimming and additional athletic activities outside their morning specialty sport giving each camper opportunities to learn and participate in a variety of fun-filled activities.

A sample schedule is below:

9:00 - Arrival & Warm-Up Activities

9:30 - Specialty Sport #1 (Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Etc.)

10:45 - Specialty Sport #2 (Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Etc.)

11:30 - Lunch (Bring your own or Buy)

12:15 - Swimming

1:00 - All Camp Activity #1 (Indoor Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, Etc.)

1:45 - All Camp Activity #2 (Indoor Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, Etc.)

2:30 - Regular Dismissal

2:30 - 4:00 Late Pick Up (Extra Charge)

Camp is 5 days a week. The cost is $192 for the first week of attendance. This includes a $25 registration fee. Each additional week is $166. The week of June 30 is discounted because there will be no camp on July 4. If June 30 will be your first week of camp, the cost for that week is $179 (as to include the registration fee). If June 30 is your second or third week of camp the cost is $133. You will choose the weeks you will be attending on the form linked below and be invoiced based on the weeks you select. Extended day is $88/week or $18/day.

Upon filling out this form, Lower Moreland students will be invoiced through My School Bucks. You can view/pay your invoice at www.myschoolbucks.com by clicking on School Store (in the upper right corner) and then selecting School Invoices. You should receive an email from My School Bucks when your invoice is ready. If you are not a Lower Moreland Student, we are unable to accept online payments, and you can submit your payment by check.

Celebrate "Read Across America Week" with the District! The theme for Read Across America Week (March 2-6, 2026) is "Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers," with a specific focus on "Champion Kindness," emphasizing books that reflect diverse people, cultures, and experiences to build empathy and inclusion. This initiative by the National Education Association (NEA) aims to make all children feel valued by seeing themselves in books and learning about others.

On February 21, 62 LMTSD students, the highest number the district has ever had, presented their STEM research at the regional level of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science at Souderton Area High School. 7th through 12th-grade students from all over Montgomery County participated in today's competition. Lower Moreland is proudly sending 42 qualifying students to the state-level meet at Penn State University this May. Students qualify for the state meet by achieving a 1st place score. Eight of our students scored a perfect score, a special distinction that comes with a cash prize from Merck.
