Title I Reading

The Title I reading intervention program provides supplemental reading instruction to students who qualify at Pine Road Elementary. The program is guided by on-going assessment data, and as a result, the instruction is appropriately differentiated, focused, and strategic. The Title I teachers plan and prepare lessons that target each student’s area(s) of need, specifically in phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
The reading specialists assess the reading strengths and needs of our Title I students on an ongoing basis. This information is communicated to classroom teachers, parents, and specialized staff, all in an effort to foster the literacy development of each reader. The Title I reading program allows emergent readers to work in a small group setting and helps to build students’ confidence as readers.
