• PINE ROAD ENRICHMENT CLASSES - Spring 2020

    No Bus Transportation Will Be Provided
    $15.00 late fee after 1st late pick up

    Each class is 6 weeks.
    Classes will begin the week of 3/2 and run through the week of 4/20
    No class the weeks of 3/23 or 4/6

    To register for a class and pay online, login to My School Bucks and click on the “school store tab” and select to browse all items. Any classes available for your student will appear here. Please register as soon as possible as classes fill up very quickly. Once a product is no longer available or visible on the store, this means the class is full. We do not have a waitlist for classes.

    001. Art – Grades K-2 (Maximum 12 Registrants) - FULL
    Mondays: 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/30, 4/13, 4/20 (No class 3/23 or 4/6)
    Location: Pine Road Art Room
    Cost: $80.00

    Students will learn the basic fundamentals of fine art using a variety of materials (oil pastels, watercolors, clay, etc.) Creative expression is always encouraged and fun is a must!!

    Instructor: Stacy Castor is a local artist.  She is a graduate of Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Arcadia University. As a painter, she has done many private and corporate commissions, including murals for St. Joseph's University, Thackray Cranes and St. Albert the Great School.  Her work is also represented in numerous collections.  She has been teaching art to children and adults for over twenty years and is always inspired by her students!


    002. Art – Grades 3-5 (Maximum 12 Registrants)
    Th: 2/27, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 4/2, 4/30 (No class 3/26, 4/9 or 4/16 or 4/23)
    Location: Pine Road Art Room

    Knights, captures, action!

    Whether you are new to the game, learning to push pawns for the first time, or have played in numerous tournaments, and want to sharpen your chess skills, join us at Shining Knights Chess Club!  We have trained numerous state champions and national trophy winners.  We have trained even more kids to enjoy the game that they can spend hours playing with friends and family.  So, whether you want to win games in your living room against your parents or win tournaments in other states, come join us and learn how to play chess or play better chess!

    004. Martial Arts Introduction K-5 (Maximum 20 Registrants)
    Tuesdays – 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/31, 4/14, 4/21 (No class 3/24 or 4/7)
    Location: Multipurpose Room     
    Cost: $80.00

    Learn basic martial arts movement and philosophy.  This thousand year old art is taught in a fun, exciting environment, stressing self-discipline and conflict avoidance.  A fun form of exercise that is taught age appropriately.  The price includes a uniform.

    005. Nutrition - Fun with Food (Maximum 12 Registrants)
    Tuesdays -  3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/31, 4/14, 4/21 (No class 3/24 or 4/7)
    Location: Faculty Dining Room
    Cost: $80.00

    Participants in this class will learn about good nutrition, healthy snack ideas, and create fun with food ! It is a hands on experience about what we can do to promote healthy eating which starts early on . We will explore the food guide pyramid , serving sizes and easy snack recipes .

    Instructor: Elisa Himmelstein M.S., N.L.C has a background in nutrition and has worked in the food industry and clinical setting. She has three children in the district.


    006. STEAM Ahead With Coding (Grades 4 and 5) (Maximum 15 Registrants) - FULL
    Mondays and Wednesdays
    M: 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/30, 4/13, 4/20 (No class 3/23 or 4/6)
    W: 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 4/1, 4/15, 4/22 (No class 3/25 or 4/8)
    Location: Room 64
    Cost: $100

    Students will broaden their knowledge, skills and interest in computer science and computer programming. Students have the opportunity to create games, animations and interactive applications using Scratch 3.0, Ozobots and Microbits. Using design thinking and logic, students translate their ideas into working applications. They will also have the opportunity to employ math and science concepts that they have learned in their classroom and develop their problem solving skills. Expectations are that students will need to be a focused, team player that exhibits the 4Cs: Communication, Cooperation, Critical Thinking and Creativity.

    **Please note -- this is not a gaming club. Students are expected to create code using various programming methods and resources.

    Instructors: Mrs. Krupa is the Instructional Technology Specialist/Lead Tech Teacher at Pine Road Elementary School. Mr. Warren is the Gift Teacher at Pine Road Elementary.


    007. Zumba for Kids (Grades 1-5) - (Maximum 15 Registrants)
    Thursdays – 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 4/2, 4/16, 4/23 (No class 3/26 or 4/9)
    Location: Multipurpose Room
    Cost: $80 .00

    Zumba Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure.

    Benefits: Helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination and cultural awareness.

    Instructor: Jodi Blum is a certified KIDS ZUMBA instructor. She LOVES to make kids SMILE through MUSIC and DANCE!

    2. Add your students using their school name and student ID.
    3. Make purchases with your credit/debit card or electronic check.

    Please note that while digital registration is preferred, we can still accept registration by check. Registrations will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Digital registration is the quickest way to secure a spot in a class. If a paper registration is sent in, please send it to Murray Avenue directly. If the class is full by the time the registration reaches us you will receive an email regarding available options. Please note that sending the registration to Pine Road could take a few days to reach the Enrichment Office. Please send any paper registrations to Murray Avenue.
