    In the event a class needs to be canceled or enrollment fills up, checks will be mailed back. If registering for multiple classes, please send in separate checks for each class.


    001. Art – Grades K-2 (Maximum 12 Registrants) **Art K-2 is FULL - Registration Closed**
    Mondays – 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29
    Location: Room 34
    Cost: $80.00

    Students will learn the basic fundamentals of fine art using a variety of materials (oil pastels, watercolors, clay, etc.) Creative expression is always encouraged and fun is a must!!

    Instructor: Stacy Castor is a local artist.  She is a graduate of Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Arcadia University. As a painter, she has done many private and corporate commissions, including murals for St. Joseph's University, Thackray Cranes and St. Albert the Great School.  Her work is also represented in numerous collections.  She has been teaching art to children and adults for over twenty years and is always inspired by her students!

    003. Bricks4Kidz – Grades 1-3 (Maximum 20 Registrants)
    Mondays – 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5
    Location: Room 39
    Cost: $80.00

    Bricks 4 Kidz is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® bricks, using exclusive and one-of-a-kind model plans designed by our company. While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills while playing with everyone's favorite toy, LEGO's!!!

    Participants build a new project each week. Each class begins with a teacher-led discussion related to the day’s model. Once the project is completed, children use the rest of their time to expand their gadgets and collaborate with one another. Students will work in a lab-type setting using LEGO® components such as gears, axles and beams. Instructional content is multidisciplinary and designed by educators to increase student’s general knowledge and introduce S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts related to the day’s model.

    CONSTRUCTION CRAZE: Put on your hard hat and head on over to our construction site! Make your own motorized models of tools of the trade from a hand-held power drill and power saw to a tough, all-terrain bulldozer and giant dump truck. Would you be surprised to learn that one of these objects has a history stretching from the Stone Age to the Space Age? And who thought of making a saw blade in the shape of a circle? Where does the word bulldozer come from? How big is the biggest dump truck? Build your knowledge of construction at Bricks 4 Kidz®! Dump trucks, jackhammers, drills, power saws… build motorized models of these and other powerful tools and create your own LEGO® construction site. Join us for lots of high-impact learning and fun!

    Knights, captures, action!

    Whether you are new to the game, learning to push pawns for the first time, or have played in numerous tournaments, and want to sharpen your chess skills, join us at Shining Knights Chess Club!  We have trained numerous state champions and national trophy winners.  We have trained even more kids to enjoy the game that they can spend hours playing with friends and family.  So, whether you want to win games in your living room against your parents or win tournaments in other states, come join us and learn how to play chess or play better chess!

    005. Irish Dance (Maximum 12 Registrants)
    Mondays – 9/24, 10/1, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5 (NO 10/8) *Please note no class on 10/8

    The perfect class to introduce young beginners to both the Irish Culture and the Irish Dance World.  Rhythm, posture and mastering footwork basics are some of the many skills taught.  Students are introduced to their first solo dance, the easy reel, as well as some fun team interaction with Ceili dance.

    All school grade levels are welcome to take part in our beginner course.  No specific materials or shoes are required to begin.

    Instructor: The Rince Ri School of Irish dance was established in 2003, under the direction of Olivia Hilpl. Olivia was born and raised in Sligo, Ireland and developed her passion for Irish dance at a very early age, as a student of the Gillespie School. A qualified Irish Dance Teacher (ODCRN) with Cumann Rince Naisiunta (CRN) Dublin Ireland, Olivia is proud to share her knowledge with students of all ages. Classes are centered around her passion and the chance to bring her student's the high self-esteem, success and life long friendships that Irish Dance presents. Students are encouraged to compete in CRN Feis & Feile, allowing opportunities to travel locally, and throughout the USA and overseas.

    Through performance pieces, Rince Ri dancers are known to bring an exciting and enthusiastic element to the dance form, as they showcase each year at the  Philadelphia Mayo Ball, The Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day parade and various events throughout the year. Join us as we continue to build success, integrity and future Irish Dance Champions!


    006. Martial Arts Introduction K-5 (Maximum 20 Registrants) **Martial Arts is FULL - Registration Closed**

    Learn basic martial arts movement and philosophy.  This thousand year old art is taught in a fun, exciting environment, stressing self-discipline and conflict avoidance.  A fun form of exercise that is taught age appropriately.  The price includes a uniform.

    007. Nutrition - Fun with Food (Maximum 20 Registrants)
    Tuesdays – 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30

    Cost: $80.00

    Participants in this class will learn about good nutrition, healthy snack ideas, and create fun with food ! It is a hands on experience about what we can do to promote healthy eating which starts early on . We will explore the food guide pyramid , serving sizes and easy snack recipes .

    Instructor: Elisa Himmelstein M.S., N.L.C has a background in nutrition and has worked in the food industry and clinical setting. She has three children in the district.


    008. Zumba for Kids - Grades 3-5 (Maximum 15 Registrants)

    Cost: $80 .00

    Zumba Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure.

    Benefits: Helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination and cultural awareness.

    Instructor: Jodi Blum is a certified KIDS ZUMBA instructor. She LOVES to make kids SMILE through MUSIC and DANCE!


    009. Intro to Bucket Drumming and Found Percussion Ensemble Gr. 4 & 5 Only (Maximum 20 Registrants)

    Cost: $80.00

    Do you find yourself taking out all the pots and pans from the kitchen and turning them into a drum set? Are you constantly tapping your pencil to your favorite beats during class? If you've got the gift of groove, or are looking to develop it, then our introduction to the world of percussion and drums through the art of bucket drumming is just the experience you are looking for!

    In this class, students will develop their sense of rhythmic feel and understanding through bucket drumming and "found percussion instruments." Students will use formal percussion techniques on unconventional items such as paint buckets, trashcans (unused ones of course!), brooms sticks, and other household objects. This is an introductory level percussion and drum class and any student in fourth or fifth grade is eligible. No experience necessary!


    Instructor Glen DeGeorge is the Pine Road Instrumental Music Director (Gr. 3-5)



    Skating Classes at Wintersport - Learning to Ice Skate

    Lessons are offered to children and adults.  Rental of Skates is included in the fee. Helmets are required for age 8 and under and must be supplied by the student.  Instructors are certified. Participants are on the ice for 1 hour, that is, a half hour with instructor, and a half hour practice.  Please arrive 1/2 hour early on the first day of class. Dress warmly.

    All Ages. Cost: $130 for each 7 week Session.
