    TREX PLASTIC FILM RECYCLING CHALLENGE

    We are excited to be joining TREX for the Plastic Film Recycling Program. Don’t miss this opportunity to rid your house of all the plastic shopping bags you have been hoarding. There are many other items we are collecting as well. The full list is below. Please join us in this easy and Earth friendly collection. Collection boxes are located in the lobby of Pine Road School.

    TIMELINE:

    • Official Start Date is America Recycles Day: November 15
    • Final Collection Date: TBD
    • Winners Announced on Earth Day: April 22

    How does the Challenge work?

    1. Schools compete against other schools in their area to recycle the most plastic film per capita.

    • Grocery bags
    • Bread bags
    • Case overwrap
    • Dry cleaning bags
    • Newspaper sleeves
    • Ice bags
    • Wood pellet bags
    • Ziploc and other reclosable bags
    • Produce bags
    • Bubble wrap
    • Salt bags
    • Cereal bags

    *All plastic must be clean, dry and free of food residue

    Prizes:

    • First-place winners receive a Trex bench
    • Each school received a participation award made from Trex decking boards
