This is my 7th year teaching at Murray Avenue School. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Temple University in May, 2007 with a BS in Elementary Education and Special Education. I completed my Masters in Instructional Technology through Arcadia University last year. I am also certified to teach Middle Level Math, and am a certified Wilson Reading System instructor.
I have taught 5th, 6th, and 8th grade learning support classes here at Murray Avenue. Prior to becoming an educator, I worked as an Administrative Assistant/ Executive Secretary for several local manufacturers. After my twin daughters Rebecca and Stephanie were born in 1995, I became a full-time mother to them and their older sister, Rachel. Rachel and her husband have blessed me with three beautiful grandchildren, two girls (Alyssa and Ava) and a boy (Bretty)! As my youngest children entered school, I went back to college and finished my bachelor’s degree. Teaching seemed like a logical career choice for me as I had been involved in my girls’ activities in and out of school for so many years, including twelve years as a Girl Scout leader. I have always loved working with children and watching them grow and learn! Rebecca and Stephanie are heading off to college in August 2013, so Greg and I will be empty-nesters for the first time!
I also love animals, and have a Flat Coated Retriever named Blitz. My family enjoys camping and we have traveled up and down the east cost from Maine to Florida in our trailer. My dream is to go cross country camping some summer!
I am looking forward to the 2013-2014 school year, and I hope my students will have as much fun this year as I will!
